Haliburton Real Easy Ryders (HRER); Season Update
Prior to the opening of our biking season, in late March the Board made what we believe was a wise decision – to cancel our early season events, group rides and the Spring trip we had been planning to the Ottawa Valley. We did this based upon advice and indeed directives from those best qualified to do so, our Health Authorities and the various levels of Government.
We have been following the progress of this pandemic, hoping it would have gone away, however it now appears that it is here to stay for quite a while longer (Ontario is still reporting 100+ new cases daily). With no end in sight, your Board has made the decision to cancel any further planned events, group rides and the Fall trip, with the exception of a later than usual AGM (prior to December 24th and required for Corporations like HRER).
We have also amalgamated the 2020 and 2021 seasons, so if you have already signed for 2020, you will be a paid-up member till the end of the 2021 season. Those who do not sign up for 2020, will be able to sign up for 2021 next Spring as usual.
We would ask members to sign up now for 2020/21 in order that we have enough members for our AGM later this year, when we plan to present to members for approval, our new General By-Law. This will replace our current Constitution and properly align with the shortly expected new Not-for-Profit Corporations Act. All 2020/21 members will receive a copy of our new By-Law at least two weeks prior to the AGM.
